Call for Applications for Master’s Degree
Programmes begins in December

The annual application round for the Master’s Degree Programmes taught in English at the University of Tampere begins on 1 December. Applications for the programmes are preprocessed by University Admissions Finland (UAF), a centralised service that was introduced last year.

Before sending the applications to the University for the selection of students, UAF evaluate the eligibility of applicants and the authenticity of educational certificates. The UAF service also includes the verification of language test scores. Altogether five programmes are open for applications during the coming application round:

Master’s Degree Programme in Software Development, M.Sc.
Master’s Degree Programme in User Interface Software Development, M.Sc.
Master’s Degree Programme in Interactive Technology, M.Sc.
Master’s Degree Programme in Bioinformatics, M.Sc.
Master’s Degree Programme in Comparative Social Policy and Welfare, M.Soc.Sc.

The deadline for applications is 1 February 2010. The selection of students will be made by mid-May, and the programmes start in September.

In addition to the programmes listed above, the Department of Literature and Arts participates in an Erasmus Mundus double degree programme. This programme is carried out in cooperation with two partner universities, University of Warwick and University of Amsterdam, the first being the coordinating University. The applications for the Master’s Degree Programme in International Performance Research MAIPR are handled outside the UAF system.

The total number of Master’s Degree programmes taught in English at the University of Tampere is not limited to the above-mentioned programmes as some of the programmes only have an intake every other year. The University of Tampere has a wide selection of programmes also including areas such as health sciences, business competence and other areas of social sciences.

Information on all international degree programmes and instructions for applicants are available from the University of Tampere Admissions website at: http://www.uta.fi/admissions/degreeprog/index.php
